The Cortex A7 is ARM's most energy efficient CPU, aimed at entry-level units



British chip maker ARM has announced its most effective CPU power for portable electronic devices, called the cortex of the A7 will succeed to the processor cortex A8. The newcomer is designed to operate as a separate processor in the entry-level devices, and requires twenty percent of the energy of its predecessor and offers twice the performance. Smartphones and tablets also use the A7 as an additional source of computing power for less demanding tasks, with the main treatment provided by the ARM Cortex A15 next.
