Anonymous Launches White House Petition Saying DDoS Should Be Recognized As A Valid Form Of Protest
Slashdot note that some members of Anonymous have set up a petition We, the people on the site of the White House, calling on the government to recognize DDoS as a valid form of protest.
With the advancement of Internet Techonology, has new reasons to protest. Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), and not to any form of piracy in any way. It is equivalent to repeatedly hit the refresh button on a Web page. It is in this sense no different "occupy" protests. Instead of a group of people standing outside a building to occupy the area, which your computer have a website to stop (or refuse) Service that particular site for a short period.
(random side before entering the wider debate: one might think that the people posting a request to the White House would pass the time at least a little more proofreading what you write or to get more input before publishing. Though the intent is clear, typos and grammatical structure of the application is atrocious.)
It seems unlikely that this demand will be needed to get the 25,000 votes. Or the White House, even if you do not mind. The problem, as always, is that a lot of it depends on where you sit, and their knowledge of technology. You can make a reasonable argument for which a DDoS is the modern equivalent of a sit.
