postheadericon Dan Bull Talks About Trying To Reach The Charts While Giving Away His Music

Earlier this week, who wrote about the new song of Dan Bull, and the new experience could free a path through The Pirate Bay for free ... and always have on music charts? We talked to Dan to see how the process has gone so far, and discussed other things too. Dan also mentions a new carrot that is added to the promotion. If you buy 10 versions of your song to put your name on the next song (and try to rhyme with something). You can see him talking about it here:

to our interview:

What do you expect to perform
/ show with "The division is supported"?

want to show that it is possible for musicians to realize what they think without the need for protection / interference from record companies and their lobbyists. The BIS, which helped force the Digital Economy Bill to Parliament during the week without washing-up examination, are now trying to get The Pirate Bay censored in the UK. This is a site that does not host any copyrighted content, but simply connects people who want to share their own files. It is also a site that does more for unsigned musicians, like myself, that the BPI have ever had. Of course, above this, it will be a great success and I hope to boost my career.

What is your opinion on the music charts?

As a young boy, I used to listen avidly to the lists of every Sunday , and soon I would go to record store and buy the top come the next day. The graphics are a powerful force to influence the purchase of musical youth. It's a shame because the cards are not brand of musicality or long-term listenability - more than all that has sold as many copies of this week. It is strange that weekly sales are considered the most important measure for judging the success of a piece of music.

What do you think of the successful musical career of the future will look like?

The long tail of the music world will be longer and thicker. Many musicians and unsigned niche is your audience and be able to support themselves through the way the Internet allows them to find a large audience worldwide. 1% of the musicians could see a drop in sales - can be millionaires instead of billionaires. Why is this a problem?

What is the reaction to "Sharing is supported" so far?

The response was tremendous. People like the idea behind the campaign, and equally important is that you enjoy the song. There were also critics - someone said "you do not get a free song on the charts, you sell every other song on the list is freely available online somewhere.". The difference is that I posted the free download for me and I am encouraging people to download - with the hope that it will lead to a compromise later. The great artists of the label to do this (or even allowed to do) are few and far between.

I'm not sure how well that one will be in the "official" letters - both "official" is supposed to mean - but it is currently flooding the Amazon region of hip-hop charts with half of the MP3 songs are my best sellers. A b-side is also number one in the reggae charts - three points ahead of Bob Marley, despite the release of the documentary about him.
