Stanford researchers create genetic transistors, make biologic computing possible
by building computer circuits, most people start with the silicon and metal, but not to the Stanford researchers. The boffins in Palo Alto want to build computers of living tissue, and they have developed a biological transistor, called the transcriber. Transcribers replace DNA and RNA semiconductor electrons in conventional transistors - essentially the transcriber control flow of a specific RNA protein along a DNA strand using appropriate combinations enzymes. The use of these copyists, the researchers constructed logic gates to get answers true / false biochemical issues in living cells. The use of these bio-transistors, researchers have access to data that was previously unavailable (for example, if a single cell has been exposed to certain external stimuli) as well as allowing them to control the basic functions such as cell reproduction .
This new breakthrough - when combined with data storage based on DNA and a method to transfer DNA between cells of the school and works on - means that Stanford created all the elements necessary for a biological computer. This equipment will allow the man to really reprogram how living systems.
