Preview: Sleeping Dogs may be a sleeper hit
The Road Sleeping Dogs has taken since the beginning of the first was a rocky place. After starting the development as its own beast, Activision took the game in the interest of creating a third iteration in the (admittedly mediocre)
True Crime
series, called
. Unfortunately, it was canceled in 2011, and perhaps the end of a very promising title. Fortunately, Square Enix took over and brought Sleeping Dogs
I am very impressed with the amount of care and attention to detail that took place during a long session with the game last week where I had the opportunity to review some of the previous missions and side missions. What was once a title that flew completely under my radar became the next game and perhaps the most unique sandbox-style action-packed beat-em-up I've seen in a while.

The demo I played began with a quick tutorial in which I practiced a new movement that was given to a martial arts school (collection of jade statues from around the world you provides access to more moves.) I learned pretty quickly how it works seamlessly in combat
Sleeping Dogs , like most movements are treated with a certain number of press / hold of a single button and the attack and the fight against both relying on their own button assignments.
The simple combat mechanic of great help when facing different types of enemies that his protagonist, Shen Wei should be treated as infiltrates the underworld Triad. In one of the first missions I could see Jackie Wei childhood friend (and low Triad) knows of an agreement on the inside, where the two can increase some items stolen from a rival gang to impress senior members of the Triads. As he faced thugs, Shen Wei struggled with some impressive martial arts moves. Sometimes you can use objects from the environment to push the enemies such as garbage cans, boxes of supplies, etc. When special types of enemies can not be treated using the timer with appropriate returns to overcome humiliation.
