Crytek Officially Announces Crysis 2 DX11 Patch, Calls it a “Gift to the High-End Community”
Crysis 2 's quite a looker, but it certainly didn' t make your PC explode. Hell bet that we only caught on fire a little . And - given the original Crysis 'bleeding-edge legacy - we' d be lying if we say that wasn 'ta little disappointing. Crytek, but isn 't about to set us on high, dry and without a few spots of PC chips forever in our lungs. The developer still worried, and as proof that it 's drop a big fat DX11-shaped love letter to PC gamers' front door - absolutely free.
"Crysis 1 's intention was, if I should play it three years later, it looks good. And it does actually met, but know that it is difficult for entry-level players, \ made" Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli told Gamasutra. "So with Crysis 2, we took a different direction, and it went back off a little."
"This is much more like a gift to the high-end community," said Yerli. "And I think players will appreciate. It lifts Crysis 2 and gives a taste of what PC gaming develop in the future, if you want to support a high-end preference."
So what 's on the menu? Well, 's posted a detailed list of changes, but here' Crytek \ s the essentials: full DirectX 11 support, tessellation and displacement mapping, HDR, Motion Blur, and many other such terms that believe in our stomachs, as they 're making full made perfect, complete with anti-aliasing butterflies.
The patch is set to drop next week, but PC Gamer's gotten its hands on some side-by-side comparison shots to ease the wait. To be completely honest, we don't see too terribly much of a difference except holy moley the bricks . We want to gently caress. With our faces.
But! In addition, our eyeballs remain resolute in our heads. Take a look for you, though. What do you think?
